What Makes it Unique

The mission church of San Luis Obispo is unusual because of the church layout. The combination of belfry and vestibule is the style of the church and makes it different. The main nave is short and narrow because of the case of the other missions. At San Luis, there is a secondary nave situated to the right of the altar making it an L - shaped church. It was never moved from it's original site, too. It is the only mission not moved and has an unusual church layout. The mission floor plan is the traditional quadrangle. The bell tower, with the three bells were made in Peru in 1818.

Bells

San Luis Obispo is the only mission that has bells that are named. They are Sorrowful, Joyful, and Gloria.
